IT Development Manager – Greenfield Project
Activation Energy Ltd (www.activationenergy.ie) is developing solutions to assist large electricity users to interact with the electricity wholesale market for Demand Side Management. Our system will interact with metering systems, the wholesale electricity market (www.sem-o.com) and the electricity system operator (www.eirgrid.com). Development requirements include modules to interact with windows databases, billing systems, automated communications system and other web services. The role is a Greenfield project involving full Design and Project Management responsibility including the following:
· Manage contractors, suppliers and off the shelf solution integrators
· Lead the development of the IT architecture and vision for the organisation
· Develop ongoing changes to our current MS SQL
· Determining the technology stack to use
· Creating and running the test lab (metering & data communication configuration)
· Package the client-site solution for on-site implementation
· Identify most suitable developers (in house, contract or off the shelf solutions)
· Work on databases, software development, software integration, hardware identification and integration, data centre management, GSM network management, electricity systems integration, SCADA, stakeholder management (electricity company integration)
The Candidate
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, with proven design and project delivery experience. The ability to present and support design decisions in co-operation with our system stakeholders is essential. As the position will involve a range of skillset requirements ranging from Design to ‘hands-on’ tasks such as setting up the company test bench, the candidate will have demonstrated in past positions the ability to deliver this skillset mix. In addition, the candidate will have extensive, demonstrable experience in:
· Telecoms/Data Communication architecture
· Distributed data collection systems
· Proposing and advocating system designs
· Relational data modelling
· SQL & Web technologies
· Mission Critical System Management
Experience with energy metering and/or automation solutions, whilst not essential, is desirable.
Salary Range: Negotiable
Location: Dublin or Cork
